U.S. Treasury Promotes Going Paperless: Mandates Electronic Invoicing
By the end of fiscal year 2012, all Treasury Bureaus will implement the Internet Payment Platform (IPP), an electronice invoice processing solution to improve government efficiency and reduce costs for taxpayers. In 2013, it will be required for vendors to submit their invoices by IPP. Vendors will benefit from IPP by collecting their payments for their services quicker, having greater assurance on accurate processing, and including online access to invoice status for all agencies using IPP.
