Niel Alsip Named Ohio Payroll Professional of the Year
This year’s Ohio Conference for Payroll Professionals offered valuable education and networking opportunities—and for one payroll professional, a well-deserved honor.
Paycor Senior Payroll Consultant Niel Alsip was named the Ohio Payroll Professional of the Year, an award that recognizes an Ohio payroll professional with outstanding local and national APA involvement and a strong commitment to community service. As former president of his local APA chapter and a member of several local and national committees, as well as a frequent volunteer with organizations such as Ronald McDonald House and One Way Farms, Niel fit the bill.
However, Niel was taken completely by surprise. At the time of the award announcement, Niel and Arlene were busy helping to set up vendors at the conference. As Niel describes it, “I wasn’t paying much attention because I thought there was no way I could possibly win.” When his name was called, he turned to Arlene, flustered and beet-red, and said “What do I say? What do I do?” As the 2003 award winner, Arlene knew exactly what to do, ushering Niel up to the front of the room to accept his award. He describes it as being both humbling and exciting to receive this top honor.
