Founded in 1979, the Village Church employs more than 140 people at three different locations near Dallas, Texas. Recently a huge upswing in attendance, membership and staffing led them to search for a new method of tracking the time and attendance of its staff.

Traditionally the church used a very old fashioned system. One that is labor-intensive and based on (error prone) manual calculations. Administrators at its three campuses were using paper time cards to track employees’ hours. The information was collected and manually entered into a database.

“It was very time consuming and, quite frankly, just too complex,” said Denise Nadwodny, Finance Associate with the Village Church.

The Village Church has employees who work at different campuses, employees who work from home, or at off-site events and they have missionaries overseas. This made attendance and payroll difficult, but it became near impossible due to the lack of integration in their payroll system. The information would never transfer correctly, so Denise would spend an entire day double-checking information, correcting all the mistakes and re-entering data.

“We needed a more universal solution.” said Denise. “And that solution was Paycor.”

It was web access that also made life easier for handling the time once it was entered. “I’ll admit it,” said Denise. “I actually recently processed a payroll while I was on vacation.” She said that the entire time she was on her computer was just like being at the office. Everything is on her dashboard for quick and easy access – from leave requests and critical exceptions, to employee birthdays.
