Beware of Phishing Scams
Posted on November 1, 2010
There has been an increase of phony emails looking as if they came from the IRS. The IRS does not initiate taxpayer communication through email.
If the message is claiming from the IRS, do not reply to the sender, access links on the site or submit any information to them. Forward the message immediately to the IRS at firstname.lastname@example.org.
For more information, including a sample phishing email, go to www.irs.gov and search How to Report and Identify Phishing, E-mail Scams and Bogus IRS Web Sites.
