The Flying Pig Marathon Takes Center Stage

On a sun-splashed weekend in downtown Cincinnati, more than 37,000 participants from all 50 states and 20 countries dotted the streets during the 19th annual Flying Pig Marathon. One of the premier races in the country and a qualifying event for the Boston Marathon, The Flying Pig Marathon was founded by Paycor CEO, Bob Coughlin with Paycor President, Stacey Browning.

Each year, record numbers of registrants come together to make "The Pig" one of the most anticipated and successful events in the history of the city. A fixture at events throughout race weekend, Bob’s passion and pride for the event and its impact on the Cincinnati community is always on display. To kick off the weekend, he ran in the Little Kings Mile Race and served as a volunteer cyclist, riding the full length of the marathon course.

From title sponsor of the half marathon, to the hundreds of associates volunteering throughout the course to cheer on runners, the impact of Paycor’s support was felt everywhere. Here’s a look back at a few highlights from the festivities.

  • More than 70 associates competed in the half and full marathons
  • More than 65 associates volunteered at race events, including distributing water to runners and passing out medals to half marathon finishers
  • PigAbilities, founded by Paycor's Product Marketing Senior Manager Tim Ruge and in its second year of existence, doubled the number of participants to eclipse 300. The event is an opportunity for people of all ages with disabilities to come together during marathon weekend and celebrate the achievement of health and fitness goals achieved leading up to the event.
  • Flying Pig Streaker and Paycor’s Chief Sales Officer, Scott Rudy, completed his 19th marathon

Well, that’s what Paycor’s founder and CEO, Bob Coughlin, believes. This initiative is close to Bob’s heart and for more than 25 years he’s been handing out turkeys for employees to enjoy with their families. This year, through Bob’s support, nearly 900 turkeys were given to associates. From the top down our organization truly is inspired to do the right thing and support one another. He didn’t forget about our remote employees, our temps and contractors or...
