Paycor announces auction for the privilege of throwing the first pitch at a Cincinnati Reds game

Paycor, the official payroll service provider for the Cincinnati Reds, is auctioning off a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to throw out the first pitch at the Business Day Special on Thursday, July 30, when the Cincinnati Reds take on the San Diego Padres. All of the money raised from the auction will be donated to Oyler School in Cincinnati’s Lower Price Hill, and a portion of the donation may be tax-deductible. The auction will run Friday, July 10, 11:00 AM –Friday, July 17, 11:00 AM.

In addition to throwing out the first pitch, the highest bidder and three guests will take a behind-the-scenes tour of Great American Ballpark and watch the Reds take on the Padres from exclusive Diamond Club seats with unlimited food and beverage. And what’s a pitcher without a catcher? One of the winner’s lucky guests will get to step up to the plate and catch the pitch!

“Community involvement is a fundamental part of Paycor’s culture,” says CEO Bob Coughlin. “For the past five years, Paycor and its employees have been volunteering and financially supporting Oyler School. This year we want to increase our commitment by auctioning off this coveted first pitch opportunity, and Paycor will match 50% of the highest bid up to $2,500 and donate it to Oyler School.”

Proceeds from this innovative auction will help fund the Oyler School’s mentor and work study programs, as well as student field trips. Oyler, which is part of Cincinnati Public Schools, teaches more than 800 amazing pre-K–12 students—many who need help overcoming difficult life circumstances. As a result of the volunteer/mentor and financial support of several corporations including Paycor, Oyler School’s academic standing has steadily improved.

“Since Paycor and Oyler School have been partners, our students’ testing scores continue to improve,” says Craig Hockenberry, principal of Oyler School. “Paycor has taken our partnership to another level. In fact, every Oyler student who worked with a Paycor mentor this year passed one or both parts of the Ohio Achievement Test. Oyler has a number of generous supporters, but Paycor is the one organization that has been a multifaceted supporter—providing significant funding, a large number of volunteers, involvement in the Adopt-A-Class Program and sponsorship of several critical events and programs annually. Their passion for volunteerism and support is contagious and our staff, students, and community are better because of them!”

A portion of the winning bid may be tax-deductable as it will go to the Adopt-A-Class Foundation, to fund a number of mentorship and education projects for Oyler. Adopt-A-Class Foundation is a 501©3 organization.
