What is the EEO-1 report?
The EEO-1 report is a compliance survey that requires companies to collect employment data by ethnicity, gender, race and job category and submit it to the EEOC by May 31 of each year. The data provided by employers is used to analyze employment patterns and identify pay discrimination.
What are the new requirements?
Back in 2016, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) released revisions to the EEO-1 report that required employers to provide wage information and hours worked for employees. The OMB put the requirements on hold, but in April of 2019, a federal judge ruled that employers must report 2017 and 2018 pay data and total hours worked for employees by race, ethnicity and sex by Sept. 30, 2019.
Not only is there a tight deadline to collect and submit information, but the amount of additional data employers are required to provide is very significant.
